About our team
who we are. how we started.
Our team started doing private money loans in 2008 when conventional banks with a ‘liquidity crisis’ significantly reduced the availability of funding to real estate investors. While market conditions have changed since then (and will continue to change again), we continue to help real estate investors by providing capital through our specialized team.
Muletown is a nickname for the self-proclaimed ‘mule capital of the world,’ Columbia, TN. We have had a significant lending presence in Columbia, and continue to have a number of loans and properties there.
Although our name is inspired by Columbia, we continue to serve the Colorado and Tennessee markets while also offering loans in other specific markets as well.
Our small team is dedicated to making sure every detail is done right and that each client is well taken care of. Here are the faces behind the services you receive with us.

CEO
Dan MacLeay, owner and founder of Muletown Funding, has over 20 years of experience in the mortgage business. In 2008, he saw the growing need for private capital in the real estate space and took the leap then to start what is now know as Muletown Funding.
Dan is originally from the midwest, and moved to the mountains of Colorado nearly 20 years ago. Dan and his wife have 5 kids and live in the greater Denver area.
Aside from real estate investing and running Muletown Funding, Dan enjoys playing golf and spending time in the mountains.

Operations
Isaiah is a graduate from the University of Colorado-Boulder as a recipient of the prestigious Evans Scholarship with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a dual emphasis in Accounting and Finance.
Isaiah has been with Muletown Funding, Inc. since the summer of 2022. He has worked alongside Dan to help grow Muletown from managing $3M in assets to over $30M. Isaiah runs the day to day operations for Muletown including underwriting, portfolio management, accounting reconciliation, and loan servicing.
Isaiah is also a licensed real estate agent in Colorado and completed his first fix-and-flip with Dan in the spring of 2023. Born and raised in Denver, in his free time he enjoys watching and playing a variety of sports, with soccer being his favorite. He is also a bit of a gearhead and enjoys working cars.
